Attendance

We strongly encourage daily attendance for your child's optimal education and request that you do all that is possible to arrange vacations and medical appointments for days and times school is not in session. If your family must be away for an extended period, please see your classroom teacher as far ahead of time as possible about arranging an independent study. Consistent attendance and on-time arrivals contribute to your child's overall success at school as well as being courteous to others by helping to contribute to uninterrupted instructional time.

Absence

Should your child have a fever, nausea or diarrhea and needs to miss school, please call the school office at (650)259-3850 as early as possible to let us know. Your call assures us that your child is safe at home. If you are unable to call in your child's absence, a written note may be sent when your child returns. Absences are excused for fever, nausea, medical appointments, or a funeral of a relative.  Absences for other reasons and unreported absences are considered unexcused. The school receives funds per student per day of their attendance. Thank you for keeping your child out of school only in the case of illness or a family emergency.

Visitors/Dropping Off Items

For the safety of all children, ALL adults entering the school buildings or yard for any reason during school hours are required to sign in at the office and wear a guest badge.  When visiting to eat lunch with your child, please sit with your child at the designated area, which is the bench next to the MPR wall.  All gates leading into school are locked during school hours. The only entrance is through the front doors near the school office. If you are unable for some reason to send a lunch with your child in the morning to school, please do not call the office but instead, drop off the lunch in the gray tub on the cart in the front of the building by 11:30 am. Before your child arrives at school, let your child know to pick-up the lunch at your child's lunchtime in the office. Glass bottles and/or containers are NOT allowed at school. Drinks and food should be in thermoses, cans, or plastic bottles.

Please refrain from non-essential deliveries to school, overall success at school is greatly influenced by uninterrupted instructional time. Please allow children to advantageously learn from and positively deal with consequences of not pre-planning, and forgetting items needed for the day. Help us with our vision of "challenging the leaders, thinkers, and creators of tomorrow".  In addition, I ask you to work with us in supporting our mission of "Engaging our community to build resilient, curious, compassionate, problem-solvers who are prepared for their future."

Free and reduced lunches are available from the school district for children whose family income falls within federal requirements. Applications are available in the office at any time during the school year.
